Who is Eligible for a Green Card?

 


Thanks to the green card DV program, immigrants from all over the world come to the USA every year. The USA has been organizing the Green Card lottery to increase the number of people coming from countries with less than 50,000 immigrants in the last five years and to diversify the American population. Citizens of countries with little or no immigration can participate in this lottery.

 What Are The Necessary Conditions To Apply?

Applicants must be a high school equivalent school graduate or have worked for two years of the last five years in a profession that requires at least two years of training or experience. The applications of those who cannot meet these conditions will be considered invalid for the Green Card lottery.

All applicants must be citizens of eligible countries to participate in the lottery. However, there are two exceptions to this rule:

1) An applicant whose spouse is a national of a country eligible for the Lottery; Even if he is a citizen of a country that is not eligible, he can enter the United States by showing his spouse's nationality as his nationality and presenting his wife's visa with his / her visa, and on the condition that they are simultaneous.

2) A person born in a country that is not eligible for the lottery, but whose mother or father is not a citizen of the same country or was not born in that country, can apply by showing the nationality of one of his parents.

Which Family Members Should I Include In My Application?

You must add your spouse and all single children under the age of 21 to your green card DV program application. You must add all your children under the age of 21 who are single (your children, your spouse's children from a previous marriage, or your adopted children) to your application.


Who Cannot Participate In The Lottery?

Those born in countries that have immigrated to the USA more than 50,000 in the last five years are not included in the green card DV program. These countries:

Canada, People's Republic of China, India, Philippines, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea, United Kingdom (Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, Pitcairn, St. Helena, Turks, and Caicos Islands cannot participate in the lottery, Northern Ireland can participate) and Vietnam. Vietnamese born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan can participate in this lottery.
